MACCS Freshmen Explore Holocaust Upstanders

June 13, 2019 7:12 am/By Jonathan Dooley

In May, MACCS Freshmen Humanities students attended a dinner and screening at Congregation Albert for the Behind the Lens project which was a collaboration between Film 1, Holocaust & Human Behavior and the New Mexico Holocaust and Intolerance Museum.  Our students used historical examples to create films exploring, “Why be an Upstander?”

The Holocaust Museum staff, and the filmmaker who works with the project, praised our students’ films as the best they have seen in terms of film making and historical research. Incidentally, the museum does not have a lot of information about German Resisters. However, they liked the students’ work so much that they may use them to teach museum visitors about these important upstanders in history.

Way to go, Freshmen Filmmakers! And thanks to Jessica Vierra, Humanities Teacher, and Andrew Barrow, Film Instructor.
