The Media Arts Collaborative Charter School opened September 2, as planned, with two days of
exciting student field trips. We are now occupying our first floor and students are energized and
enthusiastic. Once our elevator is completed and inspected we will be full facility, but this isn't
deterring the level of academic rigor already taking place within the classrooms of MACCS. Students
are already engaged in concepts surrounding "Identity". For example, in Science, students are
asking, "What is life?" and applying that question to themselves in relation to culture, chemistry and
biology. TV Production students are learning how to utilize various technological equipment, while
framing shots. Lunches are being served daily and breakfasts will begin Tuesday, September 9. All
in all, the year is off to a wonderful start and with each day an increased feeling of growth,
appreciation, and unification is recognized as MACCS establishes it's new school roots.
