FAQs

Is MACCS a public school?

Yes. MACCS is small by choice with a specialized curriculum. There is no tuition!

Must a charter school admit students through a Lottery process?

Yes. A charter school will need to use a Lottery selection process any time the total number of applicants exceeds the spaces available.

Is MACCS an APS charter school?

No. MACCS is the first State of New Mexico chartered school. We are authorized by the Public Education Commission.

What are the school day hours?

MACCS regular daily schedule is 8:15 am – 3:30 pm. However, we may offer classes at 7:30 am and/or after school. MACCS also has a variety of after-school clubs, determined each year by students interests.

Are MACCS students allowed to participate in athletics?

Yes. Students can participate in athletics at the high school within their district. We have several students who, for example, play football at Valley HS, soccer at Highland HS and tennis at La Cueva HS. We are able to accommodate students’ individual schedules in order for them to participate in these extra-curricular activities.
